Testimonials

Edmonton Eagles ABC continues to receive glowing praise for its positive work amongst young people. One outstanding example of the mentoring program is Saif Rahman who is 13 and was introduced to the club through attending a scheme involving Edmonton County School in July 2007, He had the following to say about the club.

“I felt good when I first did boxing and wanted to learn more. Some of my friends look up to me now and it has given me confidence and helped me with my relationships with my family and friends and they have supported me in following boxing. The Coaches at the Club really support you and push you to do your best and believe that I can do better.
When asked what has boxing done for you? Saif replied,
“I am better now at school with my behaviour, it’s disciplined me. How I act towards the teachers has changed too and they have responded by supporting and encouraging me. I am looking forward to training more and hopefully becoming a professional boxer and maybe be at the Olympics in 2012.”

One mother commented on the difference the club had made to her 10 year old son, "Since Josh started coming to the club, it has improved his self confidence and concentration and this has helped him at school. The coaches are fair but firm, but this is necessary so that the kids have concentration and without this they would not improve or develop their skills."

Ronnie aged 13 says,
“Since I joined the club I can honestly say it’s done a lot for me. It’s really helped with my fitness as well as losing three stone. I’ve also had the opportunity of making new friends with some of the guys that go to the club. I go twice a week and I get taught by professionals who are great to work with. I recommend anyone who has an interest to come along.”
